The Coda Sessions is a series of foreign language gigs hosted by thisislanguage.com. Each gig focuses on one language and features three native artists.

The evening was designed to give you the chance to immerse yourself in the chosen language and culture, all while meeting like-minded people to enjoy it with!

On 11.10.19, we’ll be hosting our first Spanish gig at our offices in Oxford! If you’d like to come along, please get in touch. If you can’t make it this time, keep an eye out for information on future gigs!

If you want to know more, head to our YouTube channel and have a look at our first French gig, or read on to hear what our lovely guests had to say about it.

Jane Brierly, Head of French, Michaela Community School

“We’ve used This is Language as a listening and grammar tool for our pupils for years so I was excited to hear that they were running a live, French, musical soirée at their offices in Oxford. When I first read the invitation I presumed it was an event for our school children but soon realised (hint: BYOB) that it was for teachers! It’s not often you get work-perks like this as a teacher so I jumped at the opportunity to invite a friend and escape London for the evening.

We arrived and were ticked off the guest list. Walking up the stairs, I was transported back to scenes from my Erasmus year; French artists, trendy musicians and keen linguists all set about serving themselves wine in plastic cups, finding a good spot on the cushioned floor and working out which language to start in. A quick ‘Bonsoir’ from George and the music began. Wowzers. It was a mélange of genres and languages but all with a native French flair. A truly magical evening and well worth the train fare. When’s the next one?”
